Every Saturday: Stittsville Parkrun
The “Ottawa-Carleton Trailway” parkrun starts on the Trans Canada Trail by the dog park pathway entrance near Shea and Granite Ridge, and will run along Robert Grant to Bobolink and back. There are no road crossings on the route. This is a 5km run suitable for all ability levels. The event runs every Saturday at 9:00 a.m.. For further information, please visit parkrun Canada.
Every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: St. Thomas Clothing Drop-Off
St. Thomas Anglican Church, located at 1619 Stittsville Main, accepts gently used clothing every Tuesday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. Please do not leave clothing after these hours. They accept clothing with no holes, rips, or pet hair. They will take all sizes, shoes, boots and outerwear. If you would like to volunteer with set-up, sorting or takedown, please call 613-836-5741. Their Next to New Clothing store is only open to recipients of the Stittsville Food Bank.
Every Monday: Cribbage
The Stittsville Friendship Club will be hosting their afternoon cribbage games from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Stittsville Legion (Lower Hall) located at 1481 Stittsville Main Street. November: United Way Burger Battle
This month, United Way East Ontario is collaborating with local restaurants to help make our communities healthier, stronger, and safer for everyone. It’s the United Way Ultimate Burger Battle, and there are restaurants in our community competing to create our region’s best burger while raising funds to support our most vulnerable neighbours! You can support local businesses and your community all November long by visiting the ALE -Amberwood Lounge & Eatery and ordering their ultimate burger creation. November 30: Goulbourn Male Chorus “Our Christmas to You”

December 4: Protecting Against Fraud
The Ottawa Police Service will be hosting a seminar on Protecting Seniors from Fraud and Distraction Crimes, at the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre, 2 MacNeil Court in Kanata. Learn about different types of crimes and how to detect and prevent yourself from becoming a victim. Admittance is free. December 6: Stittsville Parade of Lights
The parade starts at 6:00 pm and runs along Stittsville Main Street from Brown’s Your Independent Grocer to Carleton Cathcart Street.
Please note: Stittsville Main Street will close to traffic at 5:45 pm. The Stittsville Village Association is the organizer of the parade. It’s an annual tradition that draws thousands of spectators to Stittsville Main Street. More info…
December 6: Christmas with the Mayor
Join Mayor Sutcliffe and City staff as they celebrate Christmas with the Mayor at City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. Festive activities await you, including roasting marshmallows over a campfire, enjoy delicious hot chocolate and taffy on snow, skating on the Rink of Dreams as well as horse drawn wagon rides, and of course a visit by Santa and Mrs. Claus! To help those in need and to share in the spirit of the holiday season, admission to this sponsored event is a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank. Indulge in delicious BeaverTails for only $2 with all proceeds going directly to those in need. please be sure to dress warmly, as all events are outdoors!

December 6: Coca-Cola’s “Canada’s Kindest Community” contest
Each year, Coca-Cola organizes local stops to celebrate the season, foster community connections, and spread kindness. Residents can nominate Stittsville by visiting the contest page. We could receive $100,000 from Coca-Cola to support a local initiative or community improvement project. In Stittsville, Coca-Cola will be joining the Brown’s Independent Grocer Community Holiday Event, and taking part in the Stittsville Parade of Lights.

November 25-December 10: Zonta 16 Days of Activism
Every year during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, Zonta International promotes the “Zonta Says NO to Violence against Women” campaign. The 16 Days of Activism calls for the elimination of all forms of violence against women by raising community awareness of this long-standing issue. This year, the Zonta Club of Kanata Stittsville will contribute to the campaign by placing 16 “Orange Ladies” in strategic locations around Stittsville and Kanata each of the 16 days. An Orange Lady is a four-foot-tall, orange-painted plywood cutout with information about violence against women posted on it. Look for it in and around our community during these days. December 10: Holiday Treasures Event
Holiday Treasures is one of the biggest and favourite traditions at Stittsville Public School. This heartwarming initiative allows every student to “shop” for affordable, special gifts for family and friends. This year, all proceeds will be donated to the Ottawa Education Foundation, supporting vital programs for OCDSB students. Last year’s event raised over $5400! In the week leading up to the event, members of our community band together to donate a wide range of new and gently used items suitable for a variety of ages from babies to grandparents. Ahead of the big day, families purchase tickets for a flat rate which allows their child to ‘buy’ 3 items to be gifted to family and friends. Join us for an information session with Coyote Watch Canada (CWC). During this session, attendees will learn about coyotes in suburban settings and how to foster safe human-coyote interactions. CWC is a federal not-for-profit organization that advocates positive human-wildlife coexistence, focusing on canids. More info…
December 13: 41st Annual OC Transpo/Loblaw Holiday Food Drive
Watch for the official launch of the 41st Annual OC Transpo/Loblaw Holiday Food Drive! With currently, over one in four households in Ottawa struggling to afford enough to eat and who can be challenged even more at this time of year, OC Transpo’s food drive is a cherished tradition that brings our community together in support of Ottawa’s food banks. Over the years, this event has contributed more than three million pounds of food and tens of thousands of dollars. Last year alone, over 81,000 pounds of non-perishable food items was collected and $25,500 in donations was raised! Please consider being a volunteer for a shift with your colleagues, friends and families on Saturday, December 13 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at participating stores. December 13: Free native seed giveaway
The Ottawa Wildflower Seed Library (OWSL) will be hosting a free native seed giveaway in the west end on December 13 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Tony Graham Recreation Complex, Hall A, 100 Charlie Rogers Place. Join the OWSL to learn about the benefits of native plant gardening, take in a winter sowing demonstration, and pick up free native seeds. Facebook event. Can’t make it to the in-person seed giveaways? Online seed orders will open on December 26, 2025, on the OWSL website and the OWSL will mail you seeds for free.
Until December 15: Drive to Make a Difference
From November 1st to December 15th, Kanata Mazda is aiming to collect 2,366 lbs of food donations—equivalent to the weight of a Mazda MX-5. They are serving as a community drop-off location, and the goal is to rally the Kanata and Stittsville communities to help local families in need during this time of year. In addition to collecting food donations, Kanata Mazda will donate $50 for every new or used vehicle sold during this period to support the cause further. December 15: International Film Series: The Penguin Lessons
In collaboration with the Film Circuit of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), the Rotary Club of Ottawa-Stittsville will be showing four films at Landmark Cinemas, Kanata, this fall. These films will be screened at 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.. The price of a pass for the four films is $60.00. Please note that these films deal with mature subjects and are not suitable for children. Profits from the International Film Series support a variety of Rotary club projects and donations within our community and around the world. The film being presented will be The Penguin Lessons. The Red Barn Dental is proud to be your local Toy Mountain and Stittsville Food Bank drop-off location. The local food bank could really use your donations of baby food, diapers, and feminine hygiene products. Drop off a new unwrapped toy under their Toy Mountain Christmas tree in the lobby area and receive a ballot entry to win a new electric toothbrush! December 20: The Caring and Sharing Exchange Running on Empties
Every year, on one Saturday in December, Beer Store employees at every store in the city help raise money for this initiative by encouraging patrons to donate a part of, or their entire, empty beer bottle returns to the Christmas Exchange. Money raised by Running on Empties goes directly towards providing food and hope to those in a time of need during the holiday season. The Christmas Exchange Program provides redeemable gift vouchers or food hampers to individuals and families who are in need in our community. This event runs from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
