Past and present inductees attended a special ceremony on November 28, 2024 to celebrate the re-launch of the Stittsville Sports Hall of Fame at CARDELREC.

First established decades ago as the Goulbourn Sports Wall of Fame, plaques honouring Stittsville’s greatest athletes, coaches, and officials have adorned the walls at Johnny Leroux Arena. Now, the original plaques have been refurbished, the “wall” has become a “hall”, and it has a new home at CARDELREC (1500 Shea Road).

On Thursday night, four new members were inducted:

• Matt Bradley (hockey)
• Jack Fan (figure skating)
• Justin Phillips (football)
• Erica Wiebe (wrestling)

The four were joined by family, coaches, and previous inductees for a special ceremony. Thank you to organizers Allan Ryan and Bob Mills, along with the selection committee and volunteers, for re-launching the program and organizing the event.

Le 28 novembre, les intronisés d’hier et d’aujourd’hui ont assisté à une cérémonie spéciale pour célébrer le nouveau lancement du Temple de la renommée du sport de Stittsville au Complexe récréatif CARDELREC.

Installées pour la première fois il y a des décennies sous le nom de Mur de la renommée des sports de Goulbourn, des plaques honorant les plus grands athlètes, entraîneurs et officiels de Stittsville ont orné les murs de l’Aréna Johnny-Leroux. Depuis, les plaques d’origine ont été rénovées et le « Mur », devenu un « Temple », a déménagé au Complexe récréatif CARDELREC (1500, chemin Shea).

Jeudi soir, quatre nouveaux membres ont été intronisés :

• Matt Bradley (hockey)
• Jack Fan (patinage artistique)
• Justin Phillips (football)
• Erica Wiebe (lutte)

Des membres de leur famille, leurs entraîneurs et d’anciens intronisés étaient présents lors de cette cérémonie spéciale. Merci aux organisateurs Allan Ryan et Bob Mills, au comité de sélection et aux bénévoles d’avoir relancé le programme et organisé l’événement.

The Stittsville Sports Hall of Fame has been refreshed and relaunched! Committee members have been working hard behind the scenes to refurbish the previous plaques and relocating them to CARDELREC Recreational Centre. A formal ceremony to unveil the Stittsville Sports Hall of Fame and its four new inductees is happening on November 28 at 7:00pm at CARDELREC (1500 Shea Road).

Le Temple de la renommée du sport de Stittsville a été rafraîchi et relancé! Les membres du Comité ont travaillé d’arrache-pied en coulisses pour remettre à neuf les anciennes plaques et les déplacer au Complexe récréatif CARDELREC-Goulbourn. Une cérémonie officielle pour dévoiler le Temple de la renommée du sport de Stittsville et ses quatre nouveaux intronisés aura lieu le 28 novembre à 19 h au Complexe récréatif CARDELREC-Goulbourn (1500, chemin Shea).

The purpose of this event is to bring together Stittsville and area youth and showcase what can happen when you try new things, push beyond, and set big dreams. Through telling stories of growing up in Stittsville to competing at the Olympic Games and getting on the mats to try the sport of wrestling, this event will hope to inspire youth to go after their big dreams (whatever that may be)!
