The City has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) to select not-for-profit housing providers to develop rental housing on three City-owned properties: 2 Pretty Street, 185 Hawthorne Avenue and 2548 Cléroux Crescent. This RFP is part of the City’s Municipal Land Strategy to identify and prepare properties for housing.

At 2 Pretty Street in Stittsville, City staff expect to see a new low-rise apartment building (up to four storeys), with parking and an outdoor amenity space for tenants on the property. It will need to go through Site Plan Control, so residents will be able to see information about the project on the City’s Development Applications website once a Site Plan application is made.

The City is accepting applications for this RFP until March 20, 2026 and a not-for-profit housing provider for each site is expected to be selected sometime in Spring 2026. Selected housing providers will then work on detailed design and obtaining required planning approvals and building permits through the rest of 2026 and 2027. All timelines are tentative.

A contractor will be on site starting on February 23 to remove asbestos and any other hazardous materials from the existing building in preparation for demolition.
