May 1-30: Sylvie Sabourin Photo Exhibition
Be sure to visit the spectacular imagery captured by local photographer, Sylvie Sabourin, at the Stittsville Branch of the Ottawa Public Library, 1637 Stittsville Main Street. Sylvie was born in France before moving to Canada in the early 1980s. Photography has always been her passion. She captures the wonders of nature, be it in their smallest details or in a more panoramic way. She has exhibited in Canada and in the United States in numerous venues, Her photographs hang in a number of private collections in different provinces of Canada and in France. As a testimony to the beauty of Nature, she has recently published a book titled Emotions that presents a year of the life of Nature on a portion of the TransCanada trail near Stittsville, Ontario.
May 6-9: Kanata United Church Book Fair
The Kanata United Church at 33 Leacock Drive, Kanata will be hosting a book fair to raise funds to partially return back into the community, as well as worthwhile organizations such as the Kanata Food Cupboard, Matthew House and many others. All books are donated with dedicated volunteers who sort through all donations. Donations of books will be accepted between April 6 and April 25 at their location. The Kids Only shopping experience has returned this year on May 6 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. allowing the kids to browse and purchase books while parents and adults wait in the sanctuary. May 8: Kids for Kids Talent Festival
The Kanata Stittsville Kiwanis Club is once again hosting their Kids for Kids (K4K) Talent Festival. This is an opportunity for local children and youth to showcase their talent and help raise funds. The participants can build their confidence, make new friends and claim community service hours. Funds raised are used to support children and youth in need and at risk both directly and through other local Outreach Programs. This year there will be 27 performers with a mix of dance, song and music! The show will be held at the Sacred Heart High School Community Theatre, 5870 Abbott Road, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per adult and free for kids 12 yrs and under. May 9: Friends of Stittsville Wetlands Interpretive Walk
In celebration of World Migratory Bird Day 2026 and the theme “Every Bird Counts – Your Observation Matters,” the Friends of Stittsville Wetlands are hosting an Interpretive Walk from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in an effort to learn more about the fragile and ecologically significant Goulbourn Wetland Complex. Please arrive at the TransCanada Trail Head – intersection of Westridge Dr. and Abbott St. West – no later than 8:50 a.m. They will begin at with a special session before the walk to launch their iNaturalist Project. Make sure you download the app before your arrival. Your guide will be Rob Stavinga, a retired Environmental Technologist, who dedicated his career to conservation in Ontario. May 9: Mother’s Day FUNdraiser Market
Come out and shop for Mom, or any Mom for that matter, with 30+ vendors of local crafts and creations for your perusal and hopefully purchase! This sale happens at the Johnny Leroux Arena, 10 Warner-Colpitts Lane, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be door prizes, great food, and YOU to help support the vendors and local charities! Pet friendly as usual and every Mom gets a flower! Loads of free parking available!
May 9: Songs from the Heart

May 11-16: Liam’s Lemonade Stand Fundraiser
A simple lemonade stand is set to make a meaningful impact in the Stittsville community. Liam, a young entrepreneur with a big heart, is hosting a neighborhood lemonade stand with a special mission: raising money for SPG4 research in support of his friend Jack. Set up on a sunny corner of Adamson Crescent and West Ridge Drive from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Liam’s stand will offer more than just a refreshing break from the warm weather. Visitors are invited to enjoy a cool, homemade beverage while contributing to a cause that hits close to home. May 16: Stittsville Pathfinder Girl Guides and Venture Scouts – Poole Creek Invasive Species Clean Up and Health Monitoring
This spring, youth and leaders from the Stittsville Pathfinder Girl Guides and Venture Scouts will unite for a hands‑on environmental stewardship day at the Poole Creek Wetland, working together to protect one of the community’s most treasured natural spaces. Guided by expert naturalists from the Ottawa Stewardship Council and the Friends of the Stittsville Wetlands, participants will learn to identify and remove invasive plant species while gaining practical insight into wetland ecology and conservation. Youth will also collect biodiversity data using the iNaturalist platform, contributing meaningful citizen‑science information to help monitor the health of the ecosystem. This immersive experience not only improves habitat quality and supports long‑term ecological resilience but also cultivates environmental leadership, scientific literacy, and a deeper sense of civic responsibility among the next generation of Stittsville community stewards.
May 20: Kanata Senior’s Council AGM
The Kanata Seniors Council, will be celebrating 30 years of “seniors helping seniors” and will be holding its Annual General Meeting at the Kanata Seniors Center, 2500 Campeau Drive, Kanata, starting at 10:00 a.m. All are welcome to attend, but only members of the Council are entitled to vote. A light lunch will be served after the meeting. Also be on the lookout for Far West Fun Fest 2026, 2 weeks of activities for seniors focusing on fun, friendship and food. May 23: Friends of Stittsville Wetlands Spring Cleaning the Capital
The Friends of Stittsville Wetlands will be participating in the Spring 2026 Cleaning the Capital Campaign on Saturday, May 23. The clean-up efforts will begin at the Trans Canada Trailhead at Westridge and Abbott Street and extend to the viewing platform overlooking the headwaters of Poole Creek. This clean-up effort also included the naturalized area south of the Trailhead to Woodhurst Crescent. The second clean-up area to be targeted will be Poole Creek from Westridge Drive to Stittsville Main Street. More details to come. Every Saturday: Ottawa-Carleton Trailway parkrun (depending on the weather & trail conditions)
The Ottawa-Carleton Trailway parkrun starts on the Trans Canada Trail by the dog park pathway entrance near Shea and Granite Ridge, and will run along Robert Grant to Bobolink and back. St. Thomas Anglican Church, located at 1619 Stittsville Main, accepts gently used clothing, footwear, bedding and towels every Monday through Thursday from 1:30 p.m. to 4:40 p.m. Please do not leave clothing after these hours. They will accept clothing with no holes, rips, or pet hair and take all sizes, shoes, boots and outerwear. If you would like to volunteer with set-up, sorting or takedown, please call 613-836-5741. Please note, Food bank members get first day, and then it is open to the public. All proceeds go to the Stittsville Food Bank.

This program is hosted by the Stittsville Creative Writing Group at the Stittsville branch of the Ottawa Public Library, 1637 Stittsville Main, and led by an adult group member. Participants, ages 13-17, meet on the second Monday of the month for a series of lectures, activities, and writing exercises. It’s an extension of the existing adult writing group with the goal of fostering creativity and literacy in the next generation, and inspiring future writers. Registration required. June 1- August 31: Lemonade Standemonium
Lemonade Standemonium 2026, is a community- and youth-driven fundraising initiative taking place across Ottawa this summer in support of the Ottawa Cancer Foundation. From June 1 through August 31, residents, families, and community groups are invited to host lemonade stands, with 100% of proceeds directly supporting free programs and services for individuals and families impacted by cancer in our region. This initiative provides an accessible and meaningful opportunity for residents—particularly young people—to engage in community-building while contributing to a cause that affects so many in Ottawa. Vendor registration for the 2026 West Side Pride Community Fair is now open! Please fill out the Vendor Application Form to apply for a space in the Community Fair and please also take the time to review the important information for vendors in the Community Fair Handbook including vendor classifications, vendor fee pricings, and the rules and expectations for vendors on site at the event. Both of these can also be found and accessed on this website. This year’s festival will again be at Alexander Grove Park 10 Warner-Colpitts on Saturday, July 25th from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Community Fair is a great opportunity to show your support and solidarity and to engage and promote yourselves with our local 2SLGBTQIA+ community and the local community at large. Last year’s festival was a great success with more than 40 vendors participating!

June 6: Sable Run Community Street Sale
Come out to the Community Street Sale on Sable Run in West Ridge, Stittsville. The sale will run from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 pm. with a rain date of June 7. This annual Street Sale features tons of collectables, antiques, kitchen decor, books, garden tools, jewelry and clothing. Walk the street and pick up bargains along the way. You name it, you’ll probably find it here!
June 7: Douglas Sutherland’s Stittsville Art in the Park
Village Square Park will come alive on June 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for Douglas Sutherland’s Stittsville Art in the Park—an energetic, free, one‑day festival that unites our community in a vibrant celebration of creativity. This beloved annual event showcases an eclectic mix of local talent, from emerging young artists to seasoned creators, featuring stunning artwork, photography, handmade crafts, authors, artisans, delicious food trucks, and live youth entertainment. With family‑friendly and pet‑friendly activities, including a growing kids’ talent showcase, colourful street chalk art, expanded space along Abbott Street for artists and picnic seating, and a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, the festival draws record crowds each year. It strengthens community connections, supports local businesses, honours Stittsville tradition and founder Douglas Sutherland, and provides an essential platform for creators of all ages to share their craft and shine.
