A special thank you to Staff Sgt. Chris Sturgeon from the Ontario Provincial Police for sharing practical tips and strategies to help safeguard your finances and personal information at our recent anti-fraud workshop. Thank you to residents who joined us to learn more about protecting yourself from fraud and scams. Thanks also to Reverend Doug Kendall at St. Andrew’s Church for hosting us.
Top tips to protect yourself from fraud and scams:
- Be skeptical of unsolicited calls, emails, or texts asking for personal or financial information.
- Verify before you trust—contact organizations directly using official phone numbers or websites.
- Never share passwords or banking details over email or phone.
- Report suspicious activity immediately to the proper authorities.
