Stittsville growing, and so is the number of schools! This fall, École élémentaire publique Cassiopée opened for students as the first CEPEO (French public board) school in Stittsville.
Construction is underway for a new Catholic high school (on Cope Drive near the Walmart) and Catholic elementary school (on Triangle Street near Cranesbill), both in the Fernbank area. And earlier this year, the Provincial government approved funding for a future French Catholic elementary school (on Cope Drive at Shinny) – although construction timeline is still to be determined.
In new neighbourhoods, land is reserved for future schools through the subdivision planning process, and assigned to a specific school board. School boards need to apply to the Province for funding, and it can often take several years before schools are actually built.
For more information about schedule and timelines for new school construction, you can contact a school board trustee. Until November 14, 2026, the contacts are:
- Ottawa-Carleton Public School Board: In June 2025, the Ontario government appointed a special supervisor to oversee operations of the school board.
