Council approved plans today that support the development of nearly 750 new homes in Ottawa.
Council approved plans for a new 30-storey mixed-use building on St. Laurent Boulevard north of Queen Mary Street. The building would add 401 new homes and ground-floor commercial space within walking distance of St. Laurent Station, giving residents convenient access to transit and everyday services. The development would also include new tree-planting areas to help enhance the neighbourhood streetscape.
Council approved a zoning amendment to allow a new subdivision on Hazeldean Road near Mantra Street, in Stittsville. The developer plans to build 347 new homes with a mix of detached homes, townhomes and apartment-style housing. The amendment would protect open space along the Carp River and support future pathways connecting nearby neighbourhoods. Construction cannot begin until required site work is completed and floodplain mapping for the area is updated.
Council approves motion that would see community park expanded in Little Italy
Council approved a motion to waive demolition fees for three homes on Pamilla Street in Little Italy. The demolition would enable the next steps of a planned land exchange between the property owner and the City that would result in the expansion of McCann Park. The additional land would be used to increase the size of this community park, delivering more public greenspace and recreational opportunities for area residents.
