The Carp Road Widening project includes new lanes from Hazeldean to the 417, along with sidewalks, pathways, intersection upgrades, plus the installation of new sanitary and storm sewers plus watermain.
This is a much-needed project and has been our top transportation-related priority in Stittsville for a few years now – but it will mean a lot of disruption for residents who use Carp Road for travel, and to the residents and businesses along the route. We expect the full project to take 4-5 years to complete, from start to finish.
Here’s the latest on the project:
What’s happening now?
Bell is continuing relocation work at the northwest corner of the intersection at Carp Road and Hazeldean Road.
Two more temporary light poles are scheduled to be installed at the southwest corner of the intersection on either June 25 or 26.
Phase 1 – Carp Road and Hazeldean Road intersection upgrade
The construction tender for the Phase 1 work on the intersection will soon be released and is expected to close in mid-July. Construction is scheduled to start in September 2026 and finish in September 2027.
Phase 2 – Carp Road widening, sidewalks, and multi-use pathways from Hazeldean Road to the Queensway
Our office has received some inquiries from property owners along Carp Road with questions about property acquisition. The consultant is continuing to work on the preliminary design which is needed before City Realty Services reaches out to property owners about land acquisition.
Staff are currently waiting for feedback from the various utilities on the location of their infrastructure, which is required to confirm the amount of ROW (right-of-way) needed for the widenins. They are targeting late summer for when the first round of property owners will be contacted by City Realty Services.
If you have any questions about the project, please contact our office and we can put you in touch with the project team.
