Some good news: Yesterday, Planning & Housing Committee rejected the proposal to add land west of Stittsville (along Fernbank Road) to the urban boundary.

It still needs to go to City Council next week, and I’m confident they will reject it as well.

Thank you to residents who wrote in with their feedback and took the time to delegate at committee.

But a heads up: This file isn’t finished. In 2027, the City has to update its Official Plan growth projections and land use planning. It’s a requirement from the province. And it’s likely that it will mean more land has to be added *somewhere* at the edge of the suburbs as new urban expansion land.
So definitely a file that residents will need to stay engaged on heading into 2027.

We’ll continue to share updates at glengower.ca/development/
